Merry Meet and Welcome!

Brief History

Dragard tradition is an eclectic tradition based on its founding High Priests traditional background and self-spiritual exploration and advancement. Jaylin, HP of Dragon Heart Coven, officially founded it in September of 1998. It was then that he realized he had been walking the path of the Dragon all his life. He began putting together the many meditations, rituals, and reading materials he was given not only by his traditional teachers but his spirit guides as well.

Core Beliefs

As Dragards we are some Wiccan and some not. Some just consider them selves' witches. We are each individuals and the tradition allows for you to be who you wish to be. We see our path as constantly changing and evolving. We see our spiritual path as one that will change as we grow and learn. We do not see our spiritual path as being stagnate. It is as alive as we are.

This tradition views the Dragon, as an extension of ones own spirit. As you grow so does your Dragons. Though your studies and meditation you will explore the many aspects of the Dragon. You will realize the Dragon is a path just like the Human, Unicorn, and Phoenix
. Balance is of the utmost importance within this tradition. We stand between the Light and the Dark and keep balance between the two in every aspect of our religious and mundane life. We use the Dragon to keep this balance.

The light is the creative path and the path of inspiration. The dark is the destructive path and the path of deconstruction. One must destroy (Dark) that which came before in order to rebuild (Light) something new and strong in its place. We also like to refer to this as the Tower (Tarot card) path.

Personal responsibility is of the utmost importance within this tradition. We do not spoon feed our members. You receive what you put into it. We give you the tools and the knowledge to walk the path of the Dragon. You walk the path on your own and at your own pace. We stand beside you and help you when you need it.

We see the God and Goddess as equals. We do serve a specific God and Goddess in our private rites of initiation and elevation, but in all other rituals we encourage our members to explore the many Gods and Goddesses that exist. We seem to lean more toward the Celtic pantheon, but our members also use Norse, Egyptian and others. In open circles we tend to use the generic Lord and Lady to represent them.

Just as God and Goddess are equal so are male and female members. Covens are ruled and guided by a High Priest and High Priestess equally at all times. The coven is required to have one or the other to be at least a 2nd degree within the tradition.

We work off a 3 degree system of initiation and elevations. Each degree shows the spiritual advancement of that member thus our degree system still evolves. It does not show the number of years one has studied. We require a minimum of a year and a day at each level. Most have spent more then that. There is much information and requirements that have to be met in order to advance through the levels.  The path of the Dragon can not be rushed or hurried though. This system is still advancing and changing.

We celebrate the normal eight Wiccan Sabbats and 13 Esbbats. Mostly our Sabbats are open and our Esbbats are closed except to those who are working on study with us.

The Role of Members

In the Dragard Tradition we recognize that everyone has his or her own talents and abilities. Not everyone is a teacher or a healer. We have Healers, Teachers, Counselors, and Clergy. Each member is only limited by their imagination, ambition and understanding of the Dragon Path. You get out of it what you put into it. You can be as active or inactive as you so choose. We do have limits in that if you are following this path just to be social and have no real goals you will not last. You do not have to be Dragard to be social with us. That is why we have open circles. This tradition takes hard work and a lot of time. There is much to study and read. You role as a student never ends.

Becoming Dragard
At this time we are not accepting new members. That may change in the near future. If you think you may want to join us the following is a guide on how to do that.

You must meet with us and talk with us. You must spend some time with us. You do this by coming to events we attend or events we hold. As an example our HP Jaylin is teaching a class on 4/1/07 on Psy Shielding and Armor at a local pagan shop called Mystickal Voyage. Check out their website for more information www.mystickalvoyage.com You can also join our mailing list to find out where we are and what we are doing. The link for that is below.

We believe the only way to pass on the tradition is from teacher to student face to face. We do not believe in teaching only over the internet. We use the internet as a tool to help us teach. Teaching is based on each individual and their goal and abilities. We have some who are more esoteric in their approach to the Dragon Path and we have those who are much grounded in their view.

The learning process is self-paced. As I stated above we do not stand behind you with a whip. We do not tell you when assignments are due. You do them when you can and turn them in when you are ready. It is all up to you. We do not have a teaching BOS because it is geared toward each individual. This path cannot be learned from a book. It is one that has to be experienced.

You can only learn it from a Priest or Priestess who has been initiated into the tradition.  Anyone can learn to walk the Path of the Dragon on their own. It is not easy to do alone, but like Jaylin it can be done. The only way to learn the Dragard Tradition is to be initiated. The path of the Dragon can be walked by anyone and there is no need for initiation or elevation. The secrets we teach, within the Dragard tradition, can only be taught to someone who is properly prepared to accept them. Only through rite of initiation or elevation can you be prepared for those teachings that come after that degree.
